Get to know some of our wonderful staff members of Aiea UMC

  • Rob Lloyd,  Senior Pastor

    Pastor Rob Lloyd comes to us from Virginia, but is no stranger to Hawaii. He served the Kapolei United Methodist Mission and was active in the Hawaii District of the United Methodist Church. He retired as a lieutenant colonel in the Army with the Judge Advocate General (JAG) and then completed his theological studies at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D. C. Rob’s passion is to lead and encourage people to go ever deeper in their faith and in their relationship with God through Jesus Christ, His wife, Lisa, a retired Army colonel with the JAG, is also a graduate of the Wesley Theological Seminary. Rob and Lisa both enjoy travel, movies, and music. They have two grown children, Mary and Wesley, and three grandchildren, Kyle, Elise, and Sawyer.

  • Joseph Siofele, Associate Pastor

    Pastor Joe has been our Samoan language pastor for over almost 2 decades. His gentle spirit & abiding faith makes him a natural leader. Joe and his wife Su'e have 4 children & 4 grandchildren. 

  • Salia Garcia, Executive Assistant

    Salia (pronounced like Malia) Garcia comes to us from Northridge UMC in Los Angeles, California where she grew up and her family continues to be very involved. Salia moved to our island with her husband, Joshua, who grew up in Kailua. Since arriving at Aiea UMC she has joined the Rainbow Choir, the Sonshine Choir, and the Rainbow Ringers. Salia is passionate about children's ministry, music, and technology in worship.  

  • Kristen Malloy, director of christian education

    Kristen Malloy comes from Ohio via many other places. She and her family moved to Oahu because her husband, Daniel, is active duty Navy. When they were stationed in San Diego she began volunteering in Children's Ministries and continued when they moved to Virginia. Since coming to Aiea UMC she  has furthered her involvement in Children's Ministries, beginning as a Sunday School teacher volunteer and now leading our program. Kristen has two lovely children who are also involved in AUMC. Mya sings in the Rainbow & Sonshine Choir and Wyatt can often be found passing out refreshments. 

  • NELson OUtten, Youth Director

    Nelson Outten joined us from Davidsonville UMC in Maryland. While there, he led numerous high school youth mission trips annually to the Appalachians as well as serving as a Boy Scout leader for local units and at three National Jamborees. He retired from the US Air Force where he also screened and counseled candidates for the Air Force Academy and Reserve Officers' Training Corps for over 20 years. Nelson has a wife, Pilar Robinson, and seven children. Four are grown, two are in college, and one is a Junior in high school.

  • Claire Rivero (click here for her website), Rainbow (vocal) Choir director

    Claire is an accomplished composer, conductor, and musician. She is passionate and enthusiastic about creating inspirational and meaningful music. Her innovative method of directing our choir includes using a website that includes audio files that allow singers to practice at home to enhance the learning of music:

  • karen Carlisle, bell choir director

    Karen has rung handbells for more than 30 years and directed youth and adult handbell choirs for over 12 years. She is an accomplished solo ringer and a clinician for handbells, doing maintenance work for numerous choirs. She graduated from the University of Hawaii with a bachelor's degree in psychology. Karen has lived in Hawaii since 1995. She's married to Dan, and has two lovely young children.
